Social Norms? Taboos ?

Social norms are the accepted behaviors within a society or group. This sociological and social psychological term has been defined as "the rules that a group uses for appropriate and inappropriate values, beliefs, attitudes and behaviors.
Taboo is a strong social prohibition (or ban) relating to any area of human activity or social custom that is sacred and or forbidden based on moral judgment, religious beliefs and or scientific consensus.
Examples of social norms are to have eye contact with whoever you are tlaking to. Cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough. Finish high school, go to college. Work, face the door on the elevator. Social norms have changed though, back in the day Men would be the ones working and women would stay at home and take care of the kids, cook and clean. Now some of the guys are now staying at home cooking, cleaning and taking care of the kids, and women are out on the work force. Women are now also running for president, they are getting jobs in places where only men were known to work.
Examples of a Taboo i think would be to be unfaithful to your husband or wife. That is to be frowned uppon. Some people consider Anything to do with homosexuals is a taboo.
